• Performances kick off at 2:00PM and will run until just before midnight
  • Three different stages will host a total of 17 shows as hors d’oeuvres for Bilbao BBK Live

Yet another year the tone will be set for the Bilbao BBK Live festival by Hirian, a free-access event featuring music as a social and cultural driver, bringing Bilbo BBK Live (11th, 12th, and 13th of July) down into the city and all the way to the banks of the Ria to soak the Bilbao neighborhood of Deusto in festival spirit.  This time around it counts on the cream of our national urban music scene, and will be descending upon Deusto next Saturday, June 15th.

Seventeen performances will be spread across 3 stages at the Plaza de San Pedro, two of them standing on either side of the emblematic square and heart of Deusto:  one at the frontón wall and another at the kiosk.  The Plaza San Pedro Kiosko stage will be the rock stage, featuring Surfin’ Bichos, a big name throwing back to the early days of Spain’s independent scene, and Zea Mays, without a doubt one of the most relevant proponents of Basque-language music.  Joining them will be Tremenda Jauria, Las Odio, Las Mambo Jambo, and Kumbia Queers.  On the other hand, the “Plaza San Pedro Frontón” stage will be grooving to urban sounds purveyed by artists of such caliber as La Zowi, high queen of trap supreme ithe Spanish urban sceneChico Blanco, one of the revelations of recent months or La Dani [sic]; Mitto Koronkon, MC with a strong local following; Cruz Cafuné in his Bilbao debut[and] Putochinomaricónalong with a selection of big names in electronica taking the Basoa in the City stage, including Dave P and Marc Piñol among others.

The Kumbia Queers, Argentinian outfit mixing cumbia sounds with an intense live show, will kick off the event with their performance, firing up at 2:00 pm on the Plaza San Pedro Frontón stage, and the music will play on non-stop until La Zowi wraps things up with her show, before the stroke of midnight, on the Plaza San Pedro Kiosko stage.

Hirian is debuting its itinerant urban festival facet in Deusto, after two years in the Bilbao La Vieja neighborhood, putting on a free cultural experience to drive economic activity in benefit of the neighborhood that hosts it.  Along with the Bilbao City Hall and Heineken®, historically committed to Bilbao’s musical development, Bilbao BBK Live backs this sustainable event model in doing its bit for the cultural, social, and economic development of Bilbao through the value of live music.
