The seventh edition of Bilbao BBK Live keeps expanding and adds a long list of excellent artists to its line-up. Radiohead and The Cure will be headlining the festival due to take place from the 12-14 July in Kobetamendi, Bilbao.
Amongst the twelve new additions, Garbage, a band that came together in the mid nineties, formed by the Scottish singer Shirley Manson and American producers Butch Vig (producer of Nirvana’s legendary “Nevermind” and various albums by The Smashing Pumpkins), Steve Marker and Duke Erikson. Garbage published four albums between 1995 and 2005 that included hits such as ‘Stupid Girl’, ‘Only Happy When It Rains or ‘I Think I’m Paranoid’ and have sold over 14 million albums worldwide. After an indefinite hiatus, Garbage will be back with ‘Not Your Kind Of People’, their fifth album due for release on the 15th May.
Bloc Party, has become a household name in the British indie-rock scene of recent years thanks to tracks such as ‘Banquet’, ‘Helicopter’, Flux’ or ‘Hunting For Witches’. After a two year hiatus, in which band members worked in their own projects, Bloc Party is now plotting their fourth album.
Jon Spencer, Judah Bauer and Russell Simins came together in New York back in 1991 becoming one of the best blues-rock bands in recent times. Twenty years later, The Jon Spencer Blues Explosion has published over twenty albums (studio albums, rarities, bootlegs, EPs and singles) and offers one of the best live rock & roll performances. They’ll be in Bilbao presenting their new studio album.
Mumford & Sons together with bands such as Noah and the Whale are part of what it’s known as “the west London folk scene”. After the success of their first album ‘Sigh No More’ (2009), they are now working on their second album. Also from England the indie-popsters The Maccabees, will be presenting their third album ‘Given to the Wild’ in Bilbao.
We complete the latest announcement with Kieran Hebden better known as Four Tet, the London artist who has spent over a decade mixing hip-hop, electronica, techno, jazz and folk; the young British folk singer Ben Howard; the local band Zea Mays a band selling out all the concert halls in the Basque Country; the synth fuelled hardcore of Enter Shikari, also presenting new album; the alternative rockers Young Guns; the North American indie rockers Here We Go Magic and Pure Love, the new band by ex-members of Gallows, Hope Conspiracy and Suicide File.
We take this opportunity to remind you that the seventh edition of the festival will have a third stage. Bilbao BBK Live 2012 will enjoy performances from a total of 60 bands (almost 20 more than 2011). We will be making further announcements soon.
