Radiohead may be the band that all the specializing critics back up worldwide in the last two decades.
In Britain, his albums were a reference for the incoming of a whole generation of musicians. Not only jazz and rhythm & blues musicians, but also electronic and hip hop music artists.
His last decade's recordings showed a restless, cutting edge band, which rebelled against itself in order to continue progressing.
More than 30 millions of records have been sold worldwide and they have published 8 studio recordings. Some of them are considered to be the bests of the recent rock's history, like for example 'OK Computer' (1997).
Furthermore, they have lately revolutionized the recording industry, self managing the selling through internet of his last two recordings. Sometimes they have even asked their public to fix the disc's price themselves.
All of this has happened during the last 26 years. Many years have gone by since Thom Yorke, the Greenwood brothers, Jonny and Colin, as well as Ed O'Brien and Phil Seway established the premises of what they would be in 1985.
The five members of the band met at Abingdon Private School (Oxfordshire, England). Named 'On a Friday' (the only day of the week when they could practise in their school's music classroom) their popularity in Oxfordshire increased until the beginning of the 90's, when the record company EMI called them and asked them to change their name to Radiohead (they got it from the Talking Heads song of 1987).
In 1993 they recorded their first LP, 'Pablo Honey' , containing hits that are nowadays considered giants, like for example 'Creep’, ‘Anyone Can Play Guitar’ or ‘Vegetable’. Later came other themes which enriched their repertory, like ‘The Bends’ (1995), the famous ‘OK Computer’ (1997) and songs like ‘High And Dry’, ‘Fake Plastic Trees’, ‘My Iron Lung’, ‘Karma Police’, ‘No Surprises’ or ‘Paranoid Android’.
All the last decade long they brought out ‘Kid A’ (2000), ‘Amnesiac’ (2001), ‘Hail To The Thief’ (2003) and ‘In Rainbows’ (2007), where they tried different styles, like the electronic music or jazz. Their last album, ‘The King Of Limbs’, was published in spring of this year.
