VETUSTA MORLA, A DAY IN BILBAO BBK LIVE

Vetusta Morla is the name of a character from the Neverending Story, the novel by Michael Ende. It is a very old and sceptic turtle that lived in the swamps of sadness. “It´s a name we choose by random just some days before our first concert that little by little has revealed as a very symptomatic name of our own history. The destiny has been creating unexpected connexions after we choose it and very happy chances”.

They aren´t new in the music world but the auto edition of their album “Un Día en el Mundo” released last year has taken them to the top. The band from Madrid has received the recognition from all the specialized press and the audience as the 2008 breakthough band – undoubtedly a worth and undisputable recognition. For Pucho, singer of the band, it has been the end of a long journey. “The only thing we´ve done is an album with the touch we needed after so many years of concerts and trips knowing each others as musicians. We needed the album, we have done it with a lot of care and I think all that care and emotions of so many years have been appreciated by the audience. The kind of people who is congratulating us says things like ‘I felt that you were there and all that music was inside me’. I want to believe that people has integrated all that commitment and that can be the reason of the success of our record”.

The natural manners of this band can be the key of their success as it also proves their video clip “Un Día En el Mundo” where the band is recorded while walking from home to the place they are going to perform.  Today is one of the most visited videos in YouTube. Alvaro, bassist of the group, tells about it: “We realised it was going to have repercussion because last week it had been visited already by thousand of people. That meant another step for 2008. We were going to play in the Fnac a spring day of 2008, the concert was at 7 and we decided to do it the day before. The day after a producer showed up with a camera and an assistant and we went there from the house of one of us just before the concert. We did the whole path. It was very magical, we were all excited about the concert and we really didn´t know the repercussion it was going to have”.

Vetusta Morla is undoubtedly one of the best bands of the moment - simple and open, different and experienced in thousand musical battles, they have been a breath of fresh air in the national scene.
